Join us for fitness, fun, food and fundraising to support our veterans in need!

The Hometown Foundation, Inc is excited to be partnering with Open Doors Outdoors and Fleet Feet to provide support to our Veteran community across Connecticut. Why peanut butter? Did you know that Peanut Butter is a stable product that does not need refrigeration, and has extensive shelf life.  Eaten alone, or paired with bread, crackers, or vegetables, peanut butter holds a nutritious value and will leave the consumer feeling satisfied and full after a just a few portions. Veterans need peanut butter to provide a quick nutritious meal that is sustainable, easily accessible, with minimal to no prep.

Active duty and discharged Veterans put their life on the line to protect us at home. It is in our power to help ensure that they do not go hungry. That is why we have chosen the Veteran community to benefit from this fundraiser.

We hope you will join us for this event 6:30-8:30pm at Viking Athletics in West Hartford, March 31st.
Participants: Join us solo or as a team (there is no limit to the number of people on your team) and have one hour to complete a Burpee Challenge based on the number of jars of peanut/nut butter collected during our drive from February 14 through March 31.

  • Individuals: 1 burpee for every 10 jars collected
  • Teams of 2-3: 1 burpee for every 5 jars collected
  • Teams of 4+: 1 burpee for each jar collected

(If registering a team, all participants need to sign up individually)

Throughout last year's campaign, 827 jars of peanut/nut butter were collected. This year we are aiming to collect 1,000 jars! All jars that are collected leading up to the event and on site will be donated to the food pantry at the Veterans Base Camp

Stay up-to-date on the latest tally of jars collected, by visiting Fleet Feet Hartford's website

Want to be a part of the fun, but don't want to do a lot of Burpees? No problem! You can still register and take advantage of all the perks, including helping food pantries that serve veterans stock-up on an important staple.

To participate, please purchase a registration ticket. Cost is $30 per person with all proceeds to benefit The Hometown Foundation, Inc. Funds raised will be utilized to purchase peanut butter and essential food items in bulk at a reduced cost and will be donated to Homes for the Brave in support of their efforts to help Connecticut's Veterans and other individuals experiencing homelessness to return to meaningful, productive lives.

All participants will receive five raffle tickets, as well as a ticket for a drink a Smashburger at The GastroPark (located just around the corner from Viking Athletics where the Burpee Challenge will be hosted).

We hope you will join us as we come together for this fun and worthy cause to support our Veteran community!
